Oxlade-Chamberlain Close To Chelsea Transfer

Alexis Sanchez looks very frustrated as Arsenal are thrashed by Liverpool

CHELSEA have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £35million-£40million for Arsenal's wantaway star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to reports.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been insistent that he wanted to keep the midfielder and described his player as the future of the club as recently as Friday.

The Blues clinched the £40m signing of the 24-year-old yesterday.

Since joining Arsenal in 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain made quite the impact in his seven year career with the Gunners.

Will Liverpool hijack Chelsea's deal for the Ox?

"He can cover many positions: he can play as right or left winger and can also play in the middle of the park, that's the main reason why Conte wants to sign him". However, it appears Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be the first of the team's high-profile players to walk through the Emirates' exit door this summer. Arsenal should be winning, or certainly challenging for the Premier League.

The Times report that the 24-year-old will be given permission to undergo a medical at the England training centre, where he is on global duty.

The 27-times capped wide man joined up with the England squad for World Cup qualifying duty on Monday, and his Chelsea medical could be completed at England's training headquarters with the transfer deadline on Thursday night. It now remains to be seen if the player's career manages to take off at Stamford Bridge, should he indeed seal his departure from Arsenal.
