Sharjeel not happy with decision to ban him

PCB to sale lower rates tickets than PSL final

Pakistan's opening pair of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif are set to face long bans and heavy fines from the three-member anti-corruption tribunal, formed by the country's Cricket Board (PCB) to probe into the spot- fixing scandal in the Pakistan Super League.

A statement from PCB chairman Najam Sethi read: "The anti-corruption tribunal verdict against Sharjeel Khan is a vindication of our policy of zero tolerance against corrupt practices in the game of cricket".

"Even though the ban is technically for two and half years but my client is concerned that he can't play cricket until August 2019", Ejaz said.

Sharjeel and his lawyer Shaigan Ejaz have accepted the authority of the tribunal and appeared in all hearings, and also made it clear they had full faith in the tribunal. The panel was set-up to look into allegations of spot-fixing during the 2017 edition of the PSL.

The 28-year-old was sent home from the United Arab Emirates with Islamabad United teammate Khalid Latif.

"Sharjeel is banned for five years, which has two-and-a-half year suspended, after the proceedings of the case", said Asghat Haider, who headed the three-member tribunal tasked to probe the spot fixing allegations on the player.

Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Nawaz, who were also accused, have already received their punishments and have been suspended for failing to report offers to fix.

PCB has also planned to honor national top cricketers and umpires in the same award ceremony to encourage them.

"The PCB's legal team worked tirelessly with the anti-corruption and vigilance department over the course of the last six months to bring Sharjeel Khan's case to its logical conclusion".
