Indiana National Guard deploys over 80 to provide Harvey relief efforts in Texas

The 1,500 Arkansas National Guardsmen - members of both the Army and Air Guards - deploying this weekend will help any way they can, including search and rescues, traffic control and security patrols, said Maj. Last week, six airmen from the Guard's 193rd Special Operations Wing in Middletown who were the first group sent to assist with communications efforts in Texas.

A total of 11 soldiers and two CH-47F Chinook helicopters from the Iowa Army National Guard were deployed Friday to the Houston area in Texas to support response operations for Hurricane Harvey. Gen. Courtney P. Carr, the Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard. They volunteered to serve the National Guard and that is what they do help.

The Nebraska National Guard was deployed to Texas nearly a week ago and has since been rescuing survivors, hauling food, water and even 500 pounds of blood to a local hospital. The crews have also transported more than 86,000 pounds of cargo including cases of water, MREs and 500 pounds of blood.

Nebraska Task Force 1, a Lincoln-based, 80-member crew now working out of Katy, Texas, remains in the area. After September 15, 2017, normal limits established by federal regulations will be in effect. Included among these fuels is E-15, which is approved by EPA for use in all vehicles model year 2001 and newer.
