Patty Jenkins Is Officially Directing Wonder Woman 2

Warner Brothers have announced that Patty Jenkins will direct Wonder Woman 2.

Patty Jenkins, who directed this summer's breakout hit Wonder Woman, has officially signed on to direct the sequel, according to Variety.

Patty has also released very little information about her vision for the sequel, although she told editors at BuzzFeed News in June that she was looking forward to seeing her titular heroine's "power really soar". The action tale was two-plus hours of Gadot romping through Themyscira and war-torn lands, vanquishing enemies with her strength and winning over audiences with her guileless charm.

If you have not already seen "Wonder Woman", it is a powerful film that engages you the entire 141 minutes.

Gal Gadot stars in the title role of Wonder Woman, which also stars Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock.

Wonder Woman has earned $410.5 million at the North American box office, to become the top-performing film domestically in the DC Extended Universe. For the sake of comparison, Jenkins was paid $1 million for her work on the first Wonder Woman. But it wasn't until today that Jenkins's involvement as director was made official.

The first Wonder Woman, released in July, was an instant success, both critically and commercially.

For IGN's thoughts on the film, be sure to read our review. There is one particular part of the movie where Diana comes to a realization with music playing in the background, and the audience feels more intrigued and amazed. By locking Jenkins in to write and produce, as well, it seems she'll continue to have a good bit of creative control over the character's direction.

"I think that in superhero movies, they fight other people, they fight villains".
