Boris Johnson Is Unsackable, Theresa May Concedes On BBC Andrew Marr Show

Protesters gathered outside the Conservatives' 2015 conference in Manchester

Mr Johnson has enjoyed a resurgence in support after releasing a Brexit blueprint in a move that was viewed to have boxed in the Prime Minister ahead of her speech in Florence.

The prime minister has made the pledge on the eve of the Tory party conference just months after her party lost its majority in parliament in a disastrous election showing.

Mr Johnson had said such an outcome would be unacceptable.

She highlighted the fact that Britain and the European Union start with identical regulatory standards and said she wanted "a practical approach to regulation that enables us to continue to work together in bringing shared prosperity to our peoples".

With regards to the single market, Mr Johnson said the United Kingdom should not pay for access after March 2019, and neither should it commit to mirroring European court rulings in exchange for access. "I think the people watching this programme are interested in what we are going to do for their jobs and their futures and their children's futures". "Ain't no stopping us now!"

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, he insisted Brexit will allow the United Kingdom to "be the greatest country on earth" and "our destiny will be in our own hands".

"What that teaches me is that really is it. Rien ne va plus".

He said in an interview with the newspaper's respected political editor Tom Newton-Dunn: "When it comes to paying for access to the market, that won't happen any more than we would expect them to pay us for access to our market".

The Prime Minister kicked off party conference in Manchester by laughing off suggestions that Mr Johnson was "unsackable".

Challenged over her claim, she pointed to John McDonnell's comments that Labour had prepared a plan for a "run on the pound" if his party wins power.

'This country has world-class universities - and I am proud that more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are attending them than ever. Some 5 percent want her to step down as leader immediately, 8 percent want her gone next year, 38 percent after Brexit in 2019 and 13 percent just before the next election, according to the poll.

May added: Yes, we have to get the best Brexit deal - but we must also take action here at home to make this a fairer place to live for ordinary working people.

"Am I impatient about it (Brexit), do I want to get it done as fast as possible?" Scottish Conservatives leader Ruth Davidson was the second most popular choice on 19 percent, followed by MP Jacob Rees-Mogg on 17 percent and Brexit Secretary David Davis on 11 percent.
