Rams' defense hangs on for huge road win over Dallas Cowboys

Jared Goff LA Rams

Prescott was 20 of 36 for 252 yards with three touchdowns.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a huge win last week in Arizona. Sean Lee, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Cowboys 28-17 win over Arizona on Monday night, was not able to recover quick enough to play just a few weeks later.

The Rams defense once again forced a punt, but the Rams could not convert it into a touchdown.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: The Cowboys couldn't figure out a way to stop Todd Gurley in the second half, and that's what ultimately doomed Dallas. This ranked 3rd overall, and more importantly allowed their offense to cover up for many of their defense's flaws.

But don't tell Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein that. It's that they had the game under total control and let the Rams back in it.

In case of an emergency, fullback Keith Smith is available to play at linebacker today against Los Angeles, as it was the position he held before being shifted to the offensive side of the ball.

But for Rams vs Cowboys in week 4, Dallas faces a team with an offense that looks to become one of the very best in the NFL.

He hasn't missed a field goal or extra point all season.

The defense took a step back against the Rams.

Brice Butler of the Cowboys immediately turned to Dez Bryant to start a celebration and didn't see an official calling his toe-dragging catch in the end zone incomplete. After four games, LA is now sitting at 3-1 heading home for an NFC West showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Rams must find a way to get to Dak Prescott and pressure the Cowboys' quarterback.

Unfortunately for the Rams, they continued to trade field goals for touchdowns.

Rams running back Todd Gurley is tied with Kansas City rookie Kareem Hunt for most touchdowns with six. Ezekiel Elliott had nine carries for 45 yards in the first quarter, and added a second-quarter touchdown through the air. Finally, after the two-minute warning, a late 10-play drive eventually ended just a yard shy of another first down. Goff has almost doubled his yard per attempt to 10.1, completed over 70 percent of his passes, and posted a passer rating of 118.2, all top-3 marks in the NFL. Instead of forcing runs on first and second down when defenses have been stacking eight guys in the box, they should work some quick hitting passes.
