Las Vegas Shooter Wired $100000 to Philippines Last Week

Police tape blocks off the home Stephen Paddock in Mesquite Nevada where Ms Danley had lived

Marilou Danley, 62, was out of the USA when Paddock massacred 59 people by opening fire on a country music festival in Las Vegas on Sunday (Monday NZ time), but it was not immediately clear if the money was for her.

Investigators are looking into whether Paddock sent the cash to Danley amid conflicting reports she's in either the Philippines or Japan, the officials said.

Her slot-machine card, which is used to rack up bonuses and other benefits through play, was found in Paddock's suite, according to the Nevada Independent.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said United States authorities contacted Australian officials to help locate her.

"We believe Paddock is exclusively responsible for these heinous acts", a police department representative said. A person who was listed as a witness in the divorce said she's not connected with Paddock's behavior.

"I've met her three or four times", Paddock's brother, Eric, was quoted by CBS News as saying.

An Arkansas family connected to the girlfriend of the Las Vegas gunman says they are now getting death threats.

The gunman identified by the police as a 64-year-old local resident named Stephen Paddock, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A motive is yet to be established. "But obviously, that investigation will continue", Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.

"We are making arrangements to contact her upon her return", he said.

"She was reported to have been in the Philippines at the time of the incident but there are unconfirmed reports that she is no longer in the Philippines at this time".

Malacañang has offered prayers and sympathies for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

Susan Page, a neighbor of the couple when they lived in Reno, described Paddock and Danley as "closet people" who "kept to themselves", per the Gazette-Journal.

In a statement on Monday, California time, Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles was monitoring developments after the attack.

"We are coordinating with Las Vegas police authorities and with leaders of the Filipino Community to check on our kababayans (countrymen) there", said Cruz.

Reports, however, said Filipino-American Arthur Andrade, 21, was injured after he suffered bullet wounds on the stomach.

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) arm in charge of Filipino migration yesterday described the shooting incident in Las Vegas as "purely evil".

"We constantly appeal to our people to be careful, stay away and notify authorities about anything and anyone harboring hatred and violent ideas".
