Donald Trump Bashes ESPN's Jemele Hill

Actress Meryl Streep gestures to actress Diane Keaton in the audience during the 45th AFI Life Achievement Award

One day after ESPN suspended SportsCenter personality Jemele Hill for suggesting a boycott of the Dallas Cowboys, President Donald Trump weighed in to take a shot at the network and Hill. Last month, in a series of tweets, Hill called Trump a white supremacist and said he "is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime". You can't say shit on @ESPN without outrage, can't say shit on social media without outrage, what the hell y'all want her to do be a mime????

After Hill's comments emerged on social media, ESPN said her remarks did not reflect the view of the network. It's quite the contrary to executives behind ESPN, however, which released a statement from its official PR Twitter handle on Hill's suspension.

Hill had posted tweets on Sunday suggesting that people boycott Dallas Cowboys' advertisers after team owner Jerry Jones threatened to bench any player who disrespected the flag.

Hill initially provides cogent analysis that Jones' comments had put his players in a hard position to either risk being benched and eventually released or to be seen as sellouts. "My regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in an unfair light".

Following Hill's Twitter comments about the president, the White House called for her to be fired. Trump tweeted before dawn Tuesday. Anderson tweeted at Trump to stop attacking Jemele for doing her job. "Stand for Anthem or sit for game!'" Hill tweeted that this threat "created a problem for his players, specifically the black ones". The statement went on to read, "We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate". ESPN or Hill can decide whether they think their current relationship is mutually beneficial. "If you feel strongly about [Jerry Jones'] statement, boycott his advertisers".

Now, the sports personality has received an unpaid two-week vacation after she ostensibly called for a boycott of National Football League advertisers.
