Pixel 2 headphone jack: Google explains controversial decision to ditch 3.5mm port

More specifically, the explanation was provided by Google Pixel Community Manager Orrin. When the both devices were launched people were surprised to see no head phone jack.

Google announced two devices last week which include the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Both phones are lightweight. But their are differences.

Pixel 2 XL got released at the beginning of this month and now we're wondering how good it performs when you place it in the ring against Apple's flagship smartphone, the iPhone X.

Other specifications remain the same as both devices are powered by a Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset coupled with an Adreno 540 GPU.

However, they have managed to salvage this news by creating something that is ridiculously innovative: Pixel Buds. It can run circles around anything Qualcomm can now produce. The smaller Pixel 2 features a 2.5D curved glass while the Pixel 2 XL sports a 3D panel with Gorilla glass 5. All of these great features mean you can take the best photos and videos with Pixel 2. It's a very attractive storage offering.

However, the Pixel 2 does come with a 3.55 to USB-C adaptor.

DxOMark scores are being increasingly used to compare camera qualities in smartphones between various brands.

Now, that we are already aware how impressive Pixel 2's camera setup is, let's look at its camera samples.

What could be truly fascinating is if Google eventually joins the party and adds a dual-camera system to a future Pixel phone, in addition to its AI processing. The XL has a prominent "forehead" and "chin", while the regular Pixel has chunky bezels on all sides. But on the flip side, that handsome Touch ID button is easy to access because it's right in front of you. And the power it has when paired with the Pixel 2 is quite something as well. Of course, what is unclear is if Google is will extend these kind of settings to Android users across the board or whether it will be limited only to Pixel 2 smartphones.

As far as front camera's go, the iPhone 8 Plus beats the Pixel 2 XL in the rear camera department.

A bigger issue is that Google decided against a dual camera.

Unlocked the iPhone 8 Plus will cost £799 (64GB) and £949 (256GB). It's got all of the bells and whistles you'd ask for in a high-end smartphone camera, unless you really need a second shooter for depth or extra-wide-angle shots.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are launched with the e-SIM feature but Indian variants will be supporting single nano-SIM.
