Razer teases November 1 event, may launch its first-ever smartphone

Gaming company Razer is developing a mobile device that will be ready by the end of the year

And now, Razer is soon going to be revealing its own smartphone. While we still don't much about the mysterious-smartphone, it is certain that the device will target the gaming crowd.

Razer tweeted Wednesday to expect news on november 1, accompanying the tweet with a picture of a fella holding an obscured device.

Razer is branching out of the gaming market. However, Razer CEO Liang Tan in an interview with CNBC last month said a smartphone is coming later this year, so we are definitely betting on it instead of anything else.

One theory is that the brand's first smartphone could be equipped to automatically store apps - principally games - as well as data (photos, videos) in the cloud, just like Nextbit's Robin smartphone, which made headlines at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. "With the talent that Nextbit brings to Razer, we look forward to unleashing more disruption and growing our business in new areas".

Ever since Razer acquired Nextbit, it was basically confirmed that a Razer phone was on the cards. Also, it is appreciable how Razer has managed to prevent the smartphone from appearing in leaks. The device also packs 8GB of RAM which should be good enough for offering seamless gaming experience.

Hard to imagine that Razer launches in the field of portable consoles.

Razer's primary focus may be on gaming laptops and peripherals such as mice, keyboards and headsets. Reviewing the Razer Edge Pro for Laptop Mag, Sherri Smith praised the tablet's overall performance, but criticized its battery life, lackluster resolution and high price tag.

The operating system allegedly runs on a custom version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat, similar to what we'll find in Amazon's upcoming Fire TV.

While the rumor mill has been very clear on what Razer's announcing and when to expect it, we haven't heard many details about the phone's specs.
