Florida police think a serial killer is on the loose

Tampa Police Department is investigating a suspicious death in the Seminole Heights area

'Enough is enough, ' Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said in a frustrated plea to the killer at a televised press conference on Thursday.

Residents of the Seminole Heights neighborhood in Tampa are on alert after 3 killings in 10 days.

Tampa police released surveillance video of someone they believe may be integral to solving Mitchell's murder.

The latest slaying occurred Thursday night when Anthony Naiboa, a 20-year-old man with autism, was killed in the southeast Seminole Heights neighborhood while on his way home from work, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call the police.

In part, the police presence is to help the neighborhood feel at ease, but also so officers can continue to probe for what people may have seen.

"I can't believe my son is gone", Casimar said.

On Oct. 13, the body of Monica Caridad Hoffa was found about a half mile from where Mitchell was found, Dugan said in a news conference Tuesday. She had been shot and killed two days earlier.

On October 9, Benjamin Mitchell, 22, was shot dead at a bus-stop in the same area.

"If we are talking about one killer, then we are talking about a serial killer in Tampa", criminologist Jack Levin told the Times. They seem certain the murders are not a coincidence.

Despite the suspected connection between the three killings, police have refrained from directly calling the suspect a serial killer. "We don't know their race, their ethnicity, their sex", Dugan said. The person, who was walking alone near the area and time of the murder, was wearing long trousers, a long jacket and a hood, police said. "If that brings attention to this, that's fine".

Naiboa was the eldest of five children and had just graduated from Tampa's George S. Middleton High School past year, Dugan said.

"I just hope that someone in the community can speak out". Police said this person was in the area of the first murder minutes before it happened and could have seen something.

Dugan said Tampa police do not have any leads or motives on the homicides as of Friday morning.

Naiboa's parents contacted police when their son did not return home from his job of packaging hurricane relief supplies.

Other experts concurred that the murderer is probably young, in his 20s, and perhaps a member of a racial or ethnic minority -and whoever committed them likely lives close by, possibly even in Seminole Heights. And now, we have someone who is terrorizing the neighborhood. "We're going door to door and chatting with people".
