Kabul bomb blast: Explosion in embassy zone causes multiple casualties

Several feared dead, wounded as suicide attack rocks Kabul city

A suicide bomber in the Afghan capital Kabul killed as many as eight people and wounded many others, most of whom appeared to be workers leaving their offices at the start of the evening rush hour, witnesses and officials said on Tuesday.

Afghan media reported the explosion took place in the city's Wazir Akbar Khan area.

It was the first attack targeting the Afghan capital's so-called "Green Zone" since a massive truck bomb ripped through the area on May 31, killing or wounding hundreds.

A defence ministry spokesman said that the blast happened outside their building.
