Bride identified as killer of 13 people with poisonous milk

At least 27 people got affected while 13 lost their lives after drinking poisonous lassi

The woman planned her husband's murder to avenge her forceful marriage. She served the lassi to 27 members of her extended family, who fell unconscious and were hospitalized.

But the plot went awry when Amjad, Asiya's husband, did not drink the glass of milk she handed to him, Mr Ali said. Following this, Amjad's mother poured the poisoned milk in a container used for the entire family and later used the milk to make lassi (buttermilk).

The death toll has been rising since last Thursday, when the tainted drinks were first served and eight people initially died. 17 died and 10 were receiving medical attention. India Today reports that she had previously run away from her parent's home. However, the path she chose to escape a marriage she didn't want was not at all correct and she could have used the law to help herself instead of committing murders. A man alleged to be her lover, and his aunt, have also been arrested.

Two months into the marriage in Pakistan, she tried to flee to her parents' house, but they forcibly took her back.

Asiya confessed to the poisoning, the Tribune said. The 22-year-old also added that she meant to only harm her husband and not the extended family.

Police believe Bibi's boyfriend gave her the poison, but officers are still trying to discover if the plot was her idea or her boyfriend's.
