Annoying Jameis, vicious cheap shot spark Bucs-Saints faceoff

Dirk Koetter

Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston, who has been knocked out of the game due to an injury in his throwing shoulder, came off the bench to point and it appeared talk some trash to New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Clearly, Evans has his quarterback's back, but his wallet may be a little lighter next week, as he'll nearly certainly draw a fine for his actions on the above play.

With Winston nursing a shoulder issue, Ryan Fitzpatrick took over at QB for the Bucs on Sunday.

Evans was called for a personal foul penalty but was not ejected.

Evans was penalized for unnecessary roughness but was not kicked out of the game.

Winston told reporters that he poked Lattimore as a way of "telling him to go to his sideline". Prior to his exit from the contest, Winston had completed seven of 13 pass attempts for 67 yards.

In his postgame news conference, Saints coach Sean Payton was adamant that Evans should have been ejected as a result of the hit. Then Evans flew in for the tackle.

"I turned to my left and the fight broke out, so I really don't know what happened on that", Koetter said. The Buccaneers have now lost five consecutive contests.
