Donna Brazile Compares Clinton Campaign Treatment To '12 Years A Slave'

Hillary Clinton

But a senior Democrat with knowledge of the situation tells CNN that Brazile was referring to a separate agreement with the DNC that gave the campaign considerable control of the party.

In excerpts from her upcoming book featured in Politico Thursday, Brazile claimed the DNC and Clinton came to an unethical agreement to stabilize the party's finances.

Geraldo Rivera said this morning that the newest revelations about Hillary Clinton and the DNC are the "nail in the coffin" when it comes to the Clintons and the Democratic Party.

In an open letter published on Saturday, almost 100 former Clinton campaign staffers slammed Brazile's portrayal of the campaign, writing that they - as a group - "are pretty exhausted of people who were not part of our campaign telling the world what it was like to be on the inside of our campaign and how we felt about it". Although she was on leave since July 2016 to serve as interim DNC chair, she resigned from the network that October after hacked emails released by WikiLeaks showed that she had shared questions with Clinton's campaign ahead of a debate sponsored by the network.

In the memoir, Brazile wrote that Clinton's campaign was well-intentioned, but badly mismanaged, took minority voters for granted, and made careless mistakes with "stiff" and "stupid" messages, the Post reported.

Sunday on ABC's "This Week," former interim Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile revealed after 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton fainted at an event to commemorate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, she faced pressure to have a backup plan for Democrats in that year's presidential election.

"Frankly, what saddens me about this as much as anything is I think people who read that charge, which is just without merit, are going to perhaps start wondering about other claims in the book", Perez said.

Both the Clinton and Sanders campaigns signed agreements that allowed the presidential candidates to raise money for the DNC.

Brazile also took shots at how the Clinton campaign was run, calling it stiff and some of its messaging "stupid". They clearly failed to disclose that they had a preexisting partnership with his opponent which gave Hillary effective first-look control of the organization.

"Again and again I thought about Joe Biden", Brazile writes.

To be sure, the scathing criticism of one long-standing Democrat on other members of her own party comes at a bad time - days away from the Virginia gubernatorial race featuring Republican Ed Gillespie against Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam.

Among the reforms he said he developed after listening to Democrats across the party spectrum was ensuring that "no candidate participating in our presidential nominating process gains any unfair advantage - real or perceived - during our primary season".

Explosive revelations by a top Democratic operative that the 2016 primaries were tipped in Hillary Clinton's favor have convulsed the party as it struggles to rebuild, and whipped up accusations of cheating from President Donald Trump.

"We should never confuse unity with unanimity, and it is my unequivocal goal to regain the trust of voters and unify and strengthen our party to ensure we can elect Democrats from the school board to the oval office", Perez wrote. "And I say go to hell, because why am I supposed to be the only person that is unable to tell my story?" "We are moving beyond her".
