Meek Mill Judge's Beef Behind Stiff Prison Sentence ... Attorney Claims

Meek Mill's legal team is fighting back against his 2-4 year prison sentence for violating probation.

A United States judge has ordered at least two years in prison for rapper Meek Mill for violating probation, a surprisingly harsh verdict that stunned the hip-hop world.

Speaking out.Jay-Z posted a rare statement to his Facebook page on Monday, November 6, slamming Meek Mill's prison sentence.

Jay's not alone in thinking the sentence is especially harsh, considering Meek's violation came as a result of two arrests for charges that were eventually dropped, and that his parole was for a crime that occurred nearly 10 years ago.

Twitter reacted to Meek's surprising jail sentence, making him the No. 1 trending topic.

He was sentenced between 11 and 23 months in prison, but was released in early 2009 under a five-year parole agreement.

"We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career." he wrote. Most recently, in February 2016, Meek Mill was put on house arrest for 90 days after another probation violation.

Judge Genece E. Brinkley, who has overseen Meek Mill's case since he was known by his given name, Robert Rahmeek Williams, scolded the rapper in court on Monday for the violations, which stemmed from a 2008 conviction. But the judge insisted, saying that she had been trying to help him for about a decade and he refused, insisting on doing whatever he wanted.
