€120M Bid for Philippe Coutinho in Latest Rumours

Barcelona's chief executive, Oscar Grau, recently stated the Catalan club are again determined to sign Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho in January's transfer window.

Sport claim, in their "confidencial" section, that Coutinho has had to understand the economic realities of joining Barcelona right now means taking less money than he could otherwise get at Liverpool.

During the summer transfer, all efforts to bring Coutinho to Barca proved abortive as Liverpool rejected all offers from the Catalonian club.

And when asked about the playmaker's failed Nou Camp switch, Suarez added: "Obviously he must have [wanted to come to Barcelona] because he's a player who has ambition and any player would want to come to Barca".

"We are prepared to sign Coutinho or other players but the proposal has to come from the technical staff".

Liverpool fans can see just what an important part of the team he is with crucial goals just after the Brazilian returned from the treatment table and many would consider him to be genuinely irreplaceable.

Barcelona, according to the report, would be ready to offer €120m plus add-ons to acquire his services but the La Liga giants want to make the payment in different installments - while the Merseysiders would potentially demand the money upfront.

"I've spoken with Coutinho because I have a good relationship with him", Suarez said.

He even handed in a transfer request in a bid to force Liverpool's hand, but the Reds insisted he wasn't for sale, and stuck to their guns.

"He would bring a lot to Barca, I have played with him and know that he is a top level player". The Brazil squad has been preparing in Paris for the two matches.
