Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore accused of sexually assaulting teen girl

Roy Moore speaks to students at ACA in Tuscaloosa Wednesday

In the wake of the Washington Post's blockbuster story today that four women have accused Alabama Republican US Senate candidate Roy Moore of inappropriately touching them while they were teenagers aged 14 to 18, and Moore was in his 30s, Alabama Republicans are circling the wagons by openly defending pedophilia.

Moore has always been a controversial figure in Alabama politics. Moore, an anti-establishment flamethrower who was twice removed from his position as chief justice on Alabama's Supreme Court, was strongly supported by Breitbart Executive Chairman Steve Bannon during his primary campaign.

"If these allegations are true, he must step aside", Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

"The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying", McCain said. Three other women told the Post Moore pursued romantic relationships with them when they were teens in the same time period.

At the heart of the story is Leigh Corfman, who says she was just 14 years old when Moore introduced himself to she and her mother outside of a local courtroom in Alabama, the state Moore is now vying to represent.

Moore, a fire-and-brimstone anti-gay family values crusader is running against Democrat Doug Jones for Jeff Sessions US Senate seat in a special election taking place next month in early December.

"The Bezos Amazon Washington Post that dropped that dime on Donald Trump is the same Bezos Amazon Washington Post that dropped the dime this afternoon on Judge Roy Moore", Bannon said Thursday night.

Stewart came to the floor and told McConnell and odd that a statement was being sent to reporters.

According to the Post, other Republicans calling out Moore include "David Perdue of Georgia, John Thune of South Dakota, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Richard C. Shelby of Alabama, and Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania".

Several state Republicans suggested Thursday that the party is unlikely to disqualify Moore.

Some Alabama officials dismissed the allegations.

Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler.

Moore will remain on the ballot no matter what happens over the next few weeks. "He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of".

Under Alabama state law, the ballot can not be changed within 76 days of an election. John McCain of Arizona, Sen. Moore has given no indication of withdrawing from the race, but if he did and still drew the most votes, a second special election would have to be called.

A group close to McConnell that spent millions of dollars to oppose Moore in the primary called on Gov. Kay Ivey, R, and the state party to investigate the allegations. Moore denied that request, and eventually issued a temporary ruling that gave Borden's estranged husband full custody, ordering Borden to pay $126 a week in child support. It is too late for Strange's name to be on the ballot, but if he got the most votes as a write-in candidate, he would be declared the victor.
