SpaceX Launch of Mysterious Zuma Spacecraft Delayed Until Friday

True Story: The US Is Sending 'Zuma' Into Space

Space.com notes that such mystery is unusual even if Zuma is a spy satellite or satellite that will be used for national security.

We can further confirm that the launch was postponed a day to Thursday from the originally Wednesday night target ostensibly to deal with last minute 'mission assurance.

After first stage separation, SpaceX will attempt to land the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket on land at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Landing Zone 1. That will be followed by the company's signature rocket landing and recovery.

The covert haul is due to launch between 8pm and 10pm EST from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida.

Some people in Florida who decide not to watch the launch, still may hear it.

"There is the possibility that residents of Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Voluisa counties may hear one or more sonic booms during the landing attempt".

Upon liftoff, the 229-foot tall rocket is created to bring the Zuma spacecraft to low-Earth orbit, SpaceX said in a statement.

SpaceX is targeting a two-hour window that opens at 8 p.m.to launch the mysterious mission codenamed "Zuma", which Northrop Grumman has confirmed is a "U.S. government" payload. The Zuma is created to be launched into low-Earth orbit, which is why some describe it as a satellite that Northrop Grumman built for a still to be identified organization. But, other than that, not many details are outlined in the company's press kit.

Northrop Grumman is the payload provider, according to Popular Mechanics.

For now, it all remains under wraps and only those directly involved know exactly what Zuma may be up to.
