Selena Gomez's fans criticised the singer for allegedly lip syncing while performing Wolves at the 2017 American Music Awards. E!

Considering what a wild year it's been for Gomez, we're glad to see she's having fun with trying out different hairstyles.

The singer-actress arrived on the red carpet at the 2017 American Music Awards debuting a brand new look - blond wavy hair to match an edgy style statement that included a Coach leather minidress and embellished pumps.

We still really enjoyed it though and love the new direction that her performances are going in recently.

"She is the epitome of love and strength, and I'm so grateful to get to call this handsome person my friend".

Julia Michaels, the singer/songwriter who co-wrote Gomez' single Bad Liar, introduced her AMAs performance, calling her "one of the most incredible women I know".

Gomez stepped onto the red carpet with a blonde lob, which is a first for the 25-year-old. “The girl cant sing live so I dont know why she just cant admit it instead of lip syncing.”.

The performance of "Wolves", directed by Petra Collins, showed Gomez in a different look: something slinkier.

Tonight marks a big night for Selena Gomez. "I'd like to see you go through what she has in the past year and perform in front of millions (sic)".

Several publications have reached out to Selena's team for a comment. If you missed out on the show don't fret, we have a list of celebrities who managed to make a statement with their look.
