Second woman comes forward to say Al Franken inappropriately touched her

Woman says Al Franken grabbed her butt in 2010 while he was in office

In an appearance on CNN, Lindsay Menz said Franken placed his hand on her bottom as they posed for a photo at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010 - two years into Franken's first term.

"It was wrapped tightly around my butt cheek", she said".

The allegation comes days after Franken apologized to Leann Tweeden, a Los Angeles-based television anchor, after she accused him sexual misconduct during a 2006 tour of the Middle East to entertain U.S. troops.

The 66-year-old former comic apologized to Menz if he made her feel "disrespected". And she had evidence - a photo that had been taken by a photographer of Franken with his fingers splayed, grabbing her chest through her clothes as she slept, and smiling wickedly back at the camera.

The national wave of sexual misconduct and harassment accusations cost the Marcus JCC its biggest Book Festival event ever when a Los Angeles radio host accused Sen. On Monday, a second woman claimed he touched her butt while taking a photo.

Sen. Mitch McConnell said last week that the Senate Ethics Committee would launch an investigation into Franken's behavior, and he repeated this again yesterday in the wake of the new allegation by Menz.

Franken, for his part, has issued a statement not unlike his remarks regarding Tweeden. "But what I heard today was very gross to me because he said if she felt disrespected, that he felt bad about that". "And the fact that my own actions have given people a good reason to doubt that makes me feel ashamed".

At the same time, the president has been less forthcoming about Roy Moore, the Alabama Senate Republican candidate who has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct. Franken said he would welcome it. The photographic evidence of his alleged groping is troubling, although it appears that Franken is merely pretending to grope Tweeden, and is not actually touching her. Tweeden was wearing a kevlar vest over a heavy jacket at the time of the photograph. For the Senate to advocate Franken's removal would be hard politically, given the similar allegations swirling around President Trump, some of which are now in active litigation.
