Even with a combined record sales on Black Friday and Thanksgiving plus the projected sales for Cyber Monday, online sales in the United States for the holiday weekend remain merely a fraction of what was raked in during China's 11.11 Singles' Day sales earlier this month. The research firm had previously reported Cyber Monday sales of $3.45 billion previous year but restated that figure to $5.6 billion following a change in its methodology of calculating sales.

And that's good news for retailers this year. However, Black Friday's record $5 billion in online sales reflect consumer confidence is at its highest point. But sales are up even when you factor in a larger time period. "The big story this holiday season is in mobile shopping", CNBC reported, quoting Mickey Mericle, Vice president of Adobe's Marketing and Customer Insights division.

Analysts are predicting that Cyber Monday is expected to be the largest online shopping day in history, with an expected $6.6 billion in sales, says the report.
