"House of Cards" Will Continue-Just Without Kevin Spacey

House of Cards to resume production for final season without Kevin Spacey

A month after series former-star Kevin Spacey was sacked comes word on what House of Cards fans can expect next: the sixth and final season will premiere on Netflix in 2018.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer, revealed the news at UBS's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY today. "We were really excited we could get to an agreement... for the conclusion of the show", Sarandos said at UBS's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY.

Wright plays Claire Underwood, who started out as a less central figure on the show than her husband.

The fate of Netflix hit House Of Cards became uncertain after sexual abuse allegation against lead actor Kevin Spacey caused producers to put shooting of the show on an indefinite hiatus. However, this may not be the end for House of Cards; sources surfaced in recent weeks claiming its spirit will live on in the form of a spin-off series.

Current and former employees who worked on House of Cards told CNN that Spacey would target young men on the production team with "nonconsensual touching and crude comments". Netflix also announced it would not be be moving forward with the film, Gore, which was in post-production and was produced by and starring Spacey.

After the story broke MRC Studios, the company who oversees the show, promptly suspended Spacey.

What do you think about this decision for House of Cards season 6?

The shorter, eight episode season will be a marked contrast from the 13 episodes in all previous seasons.

Spacey is one of the most high-profile scalps in the torrent of allegations that have brought down male power players from the worlds of politics, finance, entertainment and journalism, in the wake of accusations targeting movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

House of Cards is getting back on track, but without Kevin Spacey.

Meanwhile, Spacey has also been edited out of completed Ridley Scott film All the Money in the World.
