LiAngelo Ball on China shoplifting: 'We left thinking we'll get away'

LiAngelo was a freshman with the Bruins but was indefinitely suspended by the team after a shoplifting incident in China along with teammates Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, an event that not only brought embarrassment to the school but was in direct violation of the university's student code of conduct against theft. ESPN reported that the players have not been allowed to suit up, travel or practice with the UCLA basketball team.

According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, Ball said he's pulling his son, LiAngelo, out of UCLA. "I should have left them in jail!" "I rather be playing".

Sources told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday that LaVar is looking into options to get LiAngelo and his youngest son, LaMelo Ball, 16, signed internationally.

And for the first time, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball opened up about his arrest for shoplifting during a team trip to China, which resulted in him and two UCLA teammates spending a day in prison and almost a week under house arrest before returning to the United States.

"They had him there just to use the Ball family name".

LaVar Ball told ESPN that he has pulled his son LiAngelo out of UCLA.

As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine.

LaVar Ball and President Donald Trump have engaged in a public war of words since the three players returned from China.

This began when Ball accused Trump of doing little to help with the release of the players.

LaVar Ball, naturally, turned the moment into a branding effort, noting that he'd sent the White House three pairs of Big Baller shoes-"red, white, and blue, to show him we patriotic!" "We want to play basketball".

And about the Lakers, LaVar is banking on his own promise to get LiAngelo and LaMelo playing alongside his brother in purple and gold.

LiAngelo joined his outspoken father for the interview. "Watch how I do this". As a result of his indefinite suspension, LaVar pulled his son out of the school this week and has vowed to make LiAngelo "way better for the draft than UCLA ever could have".

"I ain't got no fallback plan". "If I got a fallback plan, I'm going 80 percent this way and 20 percent to my fallback. I'm 100 in. So I never get stopped".
