Tarantino Star Trek Movie?

Quentin Tarantino attends the LACMA Art + Film gala

The crux of Tarantino's argument was that the best Star Trek episode scripts could easily be expanded into a 90-minute movie.

Entertainment publication Deadline Hollywood has reported that cinematic enfant awful Quentin Tarantino has pitched an idea for a new Star Trek film.

Abrams and Tarantino are "in the process of setting up a writers' room for the next installment in the series". There's a chance that if he likes the results, he might even direct it, though we question whether QT would want count it among his own films, since he's planning to make a limited number of movies.

Abrams helped reboot the big-screen franchise with 2009's "Star Trek" and its follow-up, "Star Trek Into Darkness".

If a success, Deadline reports that Tarantino may take on directing while Abrams would produce.

In 2015, Tarantino said he was a fan of the original TV series. The excitement about this particular project wouldn't be the impact that Trek would have on Tarantino; it's what Tarantino would have on Trek. You could take some of the great classic Star Trek episodes and just easily expand them to 90 minutes or more and really do some unbelievable, fantastic stuff.

Abrams, who is now working on "Star Wars: Episode IX", directed the 2009 reboot "Star Trek" and the 2013 sequel "Star Trek Into Darkness".

He has never taken the reins on a franchise, though he did once direct an episode of ER and a couple of episodes of CSI.

Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence are among the actresses he is said to have approached to play Sharon Tate - the pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski - who was stabbed to death by members of the Manson Family in August 1969.
