Eating cheese every day may help to protect heart health

Eating Cheese Every Day May Actually Be Good for You

Researchers from China and the Netherlands sought to learn more about how long-term cheese consumption can affect a person's risk for heart disease.

It's important to remember that cheese isn't some sort of miracle food.

15 studies with more than 200,000 were analyzed and researchers found those who ate roughly 40 grams of cheese a day lowered their risk for coronary heart disease by 14 percent and stroke by 10 percent.

With it's high fat content, Cheese isn't typically thought of as a heart-healthy food.

The relationship, however, was U-shaped rather than linear-meaning that higher quantities of cheese were not necessarily better.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommend that around of our daily should come from saturated fats, and to switch to low-fat dairy products to help stay within this limit.

Generally, cheese has always been the scourge of every health-conscious person who wants to make sure they have a balanced diet while still loving themselves enough to partake in the simple joy of one of Earth's greatest pleasures.

But researchers warned that daily cheese eaters weren't consuming a huge amount. One portion is 40 grams (1.4 oz), which represents a matchbox-sized chunk, two slim slices or a quarter cup of crumbled cheese, according to The Independent. It's possible that these results are at least slightly skewed, and this preliminary research is by no means a well-accepted fact. Cheese also contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an unsaturated fatty acid that may increase the amount of of HDL "good" cholesterol and decrease "bad" LDL levels. "It's promising to find that something that actually tastes good-and pairs well with a nice glass of red wine-may offer some protection, as well".
