Rodgers salutes Celtic as record run ends

Hearts David Milinkovic makes it 3-0

Brendan Rodgers said Celtic's 69-game unbeaten domestic record had been "absolutely amazing" after Hearts brought it to a stunning end by thrashing them 4-0 at Tynecastle.

"Probably all of the goals come from individual mistakes and we need to be better on that one".

Celtic appeared unsettled and were slapdash in possession under heavy pressure from Hearts' aggressive pressing.

Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, has suggested that the defeat to Hearts is a wake-up call for January, suggesting that Celtic need to sign players next month.

'It's the first time in 69 games we couldn't score.

"Early on we had a couple of chances from midfield and I felt we had some space to play football but after the first goal we didn't manage to create and we didn't win the duels".

"I know the disappointment and the honesty of the group", he said. The biggest Hearts win over Celtic in 122 years was also the first time in 76 domestic matches that the Parkhead side had failed to score.

Celtic, who Rodgers led to the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League treble last season, remain top of the league table by two points, with a game in hand over second-placed Aberdeen. Gordon brought down Callachan inside the box after a counterattack by the home side - when the Hearts player had overrun the ball - and Milinkovic converted the spot-kick for his second goal since joining in the summer.

Lustig spoke of "pride" in the dressing room - and also that it's vital their tag of Invincibles is now firmly consigned to history.

Former Celtic strikers Sutton and Hartson have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the defeat for the Bhoys.

"Now is not time to look back and see what we have achieved, we have to look forward".

"But the way we want to play it is easier on a better pitch".

"We did our very best and unfortunately our best wasn't good enough".
