Man planned Christmas terror attack for SF's Pier 39

California Man Arrested For Alleged Plot To Attack San Francisco Pier On Christmas

In the documents, the Federal Bureau of Investigation says that Jameson selected San Francisco's Pier 39 as a target location because of the many people who visit the pier.

According to the court document, Jameson was inspired by the October 31 NY terror attack that left eight people dead when a man drove into a crowd. The 26-year-old reportedly stated that "Christmas was the ideal day" for a terror attack in San Francisco and "did not need an escape plan because he was ready to die".

According to the criminal complaint, Jameson "has espoused radical jihadi beliefs, including authoring social media posts that are supportive of terrorism". His suicide note included comments denouncing President Donald Trump's plan to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Law enforcement officials say the FBI began investigating him in September, after a tipster reported that Jameson was making pro-jihadi comments in a Facebook posting.

The documents claim that Jameson is a former Marine with "sharpshooter" qualification.

On Nov. 3, Jameson filled out a franchise tow truck driver application with the Modesto Police Department to be employed by a local towing company that has a contract with the city of Modesto, the complain said.

The undercover agent told him to hold off until he got approval from superiors.

He also voiced support for the Halloween Day truck attack in NY which killed eight people.

Investigators said he told them he had the money it would take to go to Syria to join ISIS but later he began to talk about carrying out some kind of attack in the USA, using skills he learned in the Marine Corps.

Jameson told the informant that he was a soldier in the "Kuffar army" before he reverted and that he was trained in combat and things of war. Jameson also said he wanted to use "explosives", and he described a plan where where people would "funnel" into a place where he could "inflict casualties".

The affidavit says he said Christmas Day would be the ideal day for an attack. The FBI reportedly searched Jameson's home on December 20 and seized firearms in the process. He also told the undercover agent he needed timers and remote detonators, the documents state.

"I want to thank the FBI agents and federal prosecutors and everyone else who helped make this possible", Sessions said.

Jameson responded: "In Sha Allah one day I can". Law enforcement officials said those materials were never provided.

"At this time, there are no known additional threats to San Francisco related to this investigation".
