Pence neighbors in Aspen hang 'Make America Gay Again' banner

Gay activists troll Vice President Pence with sign ‘Make America gay again

Gay activists placed a rainbow flag at the driveway of Vice President Michael Pence's Colorado home.

The residents of the home did not respond to requests from the media asking for a comment about the "Make American Gay Again" banner.

President Donald Trump once said of Pence, during a conversation about gay rights, "Don't ask that guy - he wants to hang them all", according to the New Yorker.

Pence is a Christian conservative who, as governor of IN, attempted to amend the state's constitution to ban same-sex marriages IN 2014.

Just how anti-LGBT is Mike Pence?

In November 2016, residents of a northwest Washington, D.C. street greeted the then-vice-president-elect with rainbow-coloured flags when he briefly moved into their block. It appeared on a stone pillar in front of the house where Pence and his wife are staying this week.

What is his history with the LGBT community?

Later, he signed an amendment to that law that protects that community. As governor of IN in 2015, Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a bill that would have given people the right to discriminate against LGBT people for religious reasons. It was later modified by IN legislators who added anti-discrimination provisions. But those only applied in cities, some of which are the most liberal in the state, where such protections already exist locally.

In Congress, where he was a member from 2001 to 2013 before becoming IN governor, Pence described traditional marriage as the institution "that forms the backbone of our society". In that role, he advocated traditional marriage as the institution "that forms the backbone of our society". Citing a Harvard researcher, Pence said in his speech, "societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and family".
