Winston, Bucs stun Saints in season finale

Saints win NFC South, will play Panthers next week in the playoffs

The Bucs went 95 yards from their own 5-yard line without a timeout in less than two minutes.

Perhaps the Saints can chalk up this game to an emotional letdown in front of a sparse crowd after they had already clinched a playoff berth one week earlier with their most emotional victory of the season at home against the Falcons.

New Orleans Saints running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara have combined to have outstanding seasons.

The Saints failed on an attempted fake field goal when kicker Wil Lutz was tackled one yard short of the first down.

Winston shook off three interceptions against the Saints and ended with 363 yards on 28 of 51 passing.

Defensive end Ryan Russell got the first sack of Saints' quarterback Drew Brees during the Saints' first drive of the second half.

The Saints scored on the longest kickoff return in club history in the first quarter and took a 14-7 lead late in the period, but found itself in a bit of a struggle with Tampa Bay in the third quarter while nursing a 17-13 lead.

The cherry on top was wide receiver Chris Godwin's 39-yard touchdown reception, the rookie's first of his career, followed by a Mike Evans two-point conversion to put the Buccaneers up 31-24 with nine seconds left in the game. It would be Kamara again who punched in a 7-yard run to put the Saints up 14-7 with 2:36 remaining in the first quarter.

The Buccaneers (4-11) scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, the first by Peyton Barber and the second by quarterback Jameis Winston.
