Over 300 women in Hollywood launch campaign to fight sex abuse

700000 Female Farmworkers Say They Stand With Hollywood Actors Against Sexual Assault

The initiative was formally unveiled in a story by The New York Times, and its mission was laid out in an open letter signed by hundreds of women in the show business.

"As a first step towards helping women and men across the country seek justice, the signatories of this letter will be seeding a legal fund to help survivors of sexual assault and harassment across all industries challenge those responsible for the harm against them and give voice to their experiences".

It will include a legal defence fund for victims across different industries, backed by Dollars 13 million in donations, and will advocate for legislation combating workplace harassment.

More than 300 prominent women in Hollywood have launched a new initiative called Time's Up to combat sexual harassment and gender inequity in the workplace.

"If this group of women can't fight for a model for other women who don't have as much power and privilege", Rhimes told the Times, "then who can?"

As the Times reports, the group is "leaderless, run by volunteers and made up of working groups"-each of which focusing on different areas of the problem or specific populations under threat".
