'Jeopardy!' Host Alex Trebek On Medical Leave Following Surgery

Longtime 'Jeopardy!' host Alex Trebek, in a video message to fans, has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove blood clots from his brain after a fall. During the holiday weeks, Trebek had surgery done for it and two days later, he returned home from the hospital to recover. He underwent surgery in mid-December. Doctors operated the following day and released the 77-year-old on December 18.

The company expects taping of Jeopardy! to resume in mid-January.

According to Deadline, production on the show will only be slightly affected - the upcoming College Championship will film in March instead of this month. His prognosis, he said, is "excellent" and he will be back to tape "Jeopardy!".

Trebek has had a history of health scares.

The following year, he suffered a mild heart attack.

In May, he renewed his contract with Sony Pictures Television to host the show through the 2019-2020 season.
