Sears, Kmart to close 100 more stores, including 1 in NJ

In the NY area, the Sears located in Hicksville, on Long Island, is expected to close, as well as one in Toms River, New Jersey.

The latest round includes the Red Oak location on N Broadway set for early April.

Sears Holdings announced Thursday that it will close the company's Anchorage store and 38 other unprofitable Sears stores around the nation as part of its continued restructuring. In a statement released yesterday, Sears Holdings announced that they will be closing 39 Sears stores and 64 Kmart stores throughout the USA, beginning this month.

A Sears Holdings spokesman did not detail how many employees would be impacted.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as January 12. Their parent company, Sears Holdings, hasn't turned a profit since 2010 and warned in 2017 there was "substantial doubt" that it will be able to stay in business.

In 2006, the company operated more than 3,000 locations in USA and a few hundred in Canada.

According to a release, the store located at 102 Emily Drive in Clarksburg is among the closings.
