The XFL Is Reportedly Slated To Return In 2020

Vince Mc Mahon gave a rundown of the new XFL on Thursday. XFL YouTube

It's official: WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is bringing back "extreme" pro football.

Between now and then, McMahon will be working on building an infrastructure for the league, which would entail coaches, players, facilities and more, hence the project not commencing until the 2020 "season". "Shorter, faster paced, family friendly". "That's what we're going to deliver". People want to be entertained. In fact, the idea that players will be able to express their individuality also is an open question.

Of course, that's a play off of one-time XFL star Rod Smart's "He Hate Me" nickname. McMahon said the schedule could begin in late January and no cities or TV partners were named. "But it will probably go beyond that", he said. McMahon said he is not looking for other investors, "at least not now".

They will announce the cities for the teams at a later date and indicated that they still don't know the exact cities yet. The league will have a separate management team from WWE. Eight teams - all owned by McMahon's company - will compete in a 10-game regular season, likely on Sunday afternoons, he said. There will be a playoff and a championship game. Being a visionary, McMahon also wants to consider "new forms of presentation" for the XFL. "Not reinvent", he said in an interview last week. "I have an expression that I use a lot".

The Hefty Lefty could be making his way back into football.

But McMahon said that he had not consulted with Trump about the XFL, and that the ban on politics during games would extend to the president's positions. "Would the rules be more basic?"

In regards to distributing the games, at this moment in time, he hasn't had any talks. We want rules that are simplified.

After the league drew huge television ratings its first week, disorganization plagued the operation, and fans became disenchanted by the confusing, sloppy brand of football played by inferior players.

If the XFL overlooks Manziel's past, let's be honest: Manziel would be a great get for the new football league.

McMahon also said he would preclude any player with a criminal record. Everyone will come in on an even playing field, McMahon said. "You can't measure heart and things of that nature".

The XFL was hyped as a more "extreme" version of football, with the elimination of fair catches and extra points.

When asked if the league would be distributed on broadcast or streaming, he said, "As we re-imagine the game, we re-imagine the way we distribute the game".

Whether that's true or not, we're just thankful for a new professional football league because more football teams means more opportunities for fringe or washed up players to put on the pads once again.

The sexed-up, second-rate football league formed as the early 2000s brainchild of WWE ringleader Vince McMahon is set for a surprising second life in 2020. Would you have fewer commercial breaks?

"Yes I do", McMahon quickly answers.
