Palestinians burn effigies of Trump, Pence

US Vice President Pence welcomes end to government shutdown

Saudi Arabia denounced on Friday the USA recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. NPR's Tamara Keith is traveling with Pence, and she's with us now.

Pence told the parliament that Israel "can be confident" that the U.S will never compromise Israel's security. The move is enough to cause "tension" in the Middle East and weaken the chances of finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict, said the Kingdom's representative at the UN Security Council.

"We heard President al-Sisi out", Mr Pence said.

"I guess it would be safe to say that the Jordanians are as anxious as Abbas on what the Trump administration seems determined to offer, irrespective of any warnings coming from the region or from Europe", the same European diplomat said.

"I would say that the positions that Pence made clear in Israel today, and those that had been demonstrated by Trump before, show one thing - that this administration cannot be expected to offer anything that could amount to a possible re-launch of the peace talks", the Palestinian official said.

The brief exchange was part of an incredibly warm welcome for Pence in Israel, which has praised the American decision last month to recognize Jerusalem as the capital.

The protest, which took place in Aida refugee camp at the northern entrance of Bethlehem, comes following Mike Pence's visit to Israel on Tuesday, where he met with the Israeli president, Reuven Rivlin, and Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, and addressed the Israeli Knesset.

It is this fact that makes Pence a nightmarish figure for people concerned about the split between American and Israeli Jews.

Daniel Seidemann, a prominent Israeli attorney who founded the NGO Terrestrial Jerusalem, went on a against Vice President Mike Pence for his hyper-partisan visit to Jerusalem that further exacerbated tensions in the region.

While Pence has not overtly expressed his opinions on the apocalypse, the vice president's trip to Jerusalem raises continued concerns about his theocratic influence within the administration of an already authoritarian-leaning President Donald Trump.

In related news, security forces on Saturday morning found 12 explosive devices connected with electric cables ear the road connecting Palestinian Authority (PA) cities of Illar and Atil to Tulkarem, reported Arutz Sheva. So now let's talk about the reason that Pence is in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stressed the need to abide by all United Nations resolutions related to the city of Jerusalem, including Security Council resolutions and the principles of international law, which stipulate that diplomatic missions should not be established or transferred there, opposing any recognition of it as the capital of the occupying state and considering East Jerusalem as an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967.

The declaration saw a spike in violent protests in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It is no exaggeration to say that if Israelis could unilaterally choose anyone in the world to be president of the United States, Pence would be on their short list.
