The Knicks' options as Joakim Noah fight becomes clearer

The Knicks are

According to Charania, Noah believed he could be a contributor on a winning team. If the Knicks were to find a team to take Noah, they likely would have to take back another bad contract.

The argument occurred at the Knicks' practice on Wednesday in Denver and led to Noah leaving the team.

Buyout: Noah would have to be willing to sacrifice a portion of what he's owed between this season and the final two years of his contract. Now, the Knicks are "exploring avenues" for Noah, Yahoo Sports reported.

Needless to say, Noah has been a huge bust in NY.

Per Charania, the Knicks are unsure if Noah will rejoin the team, and are considering the possibility of buying him out if it's unable to trade him.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, parting ways with Noah may not be so easy. But several reports, confirmed by league sources, said Noah is not interested in a buyout. The cap relief this summer would also be a non-factor unless the club sheds significant salary that's already guaranteed for next season or if Enes Kanter opts out of his $18.6 million player option for 2018-19.

"From Noah's view, this was a far cry from the plan that had been discussed - not to mention a disrespectful way to treat a veteran who hadn't played in the previous 10 games."

Noah, who has two years remaining on his four-year, $72 million contract he signed with the Knicks in 2016, also won't play against the Nets on Tuesday, according to The News.

Trade other centers:?Opposing teams have expressed interest in centers Enes Kanter, Kyle O'Quinn and Willy Hernangomez ahead of the February 8 trade deadline.

If the Knicks have any chance of removing the contract from their books, they will need to package him with a quality asset, like an early draft pick or a talented young player.

Even when he was getting playing time last season, he wasn't very effective with an average of 5.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 46 starts.

Noah has fallen from grace in NY, however, and is now being excluded from a rotation that features Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn in center.
