John Wall to Undergo Knee Surgery, Could Miss 6-8 Weeks

Wizards guard John Wall is expected to miss six weeks

Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall will reportedly undergo a knee procedure this week and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wall, who is slated to play for Team LeBron on February 18 in Los Angeles in what would be his fifth straight All-Star Game, is averaging 19.4 points and 9.3 assists this season, both numbers a little better than his career averages.

Neither team shot particularly well: The Wizards wound up making 38.2 per cent of their field-goal attempts - they missed 13 consecutive 3-point tries in one stretch - and the Thunder were at 37.5 per cent.

According to The Washington Post's Candace Parker, Wall will undergo a knee procedure tomorrow to "clean up" the area.

Though Wall is not having his best season, he remains the Wizards' most important player, initiating their offense and creating open looks for Bradley Beal and the rest of his teammates.

Love went down the tunnel toward the locker room during the first quarter.

At halftime, the Thunder were ahead 54-53, thanks to Jerami Grant's 20-foot buzzer-beating jumper and 20 points from George on 7-for-11 shooting.

The Thunder had a chance to knot the score on the ensuing the possession, but Carmelo Anthony's mid-range pull-up jumper fell woefully short and allowed the Wizards to exact revenge for last Thursday's loss at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Thunder: Donovan and C Steven Adams also were assessed techs. The Wizards had 12.

In addition to questions about depth, Wall has appeared to take a step back this season. He returned to the game early in the fourth.

In his absence, All-Star Beal will have to pick up the slack alongside Tomas Satoransky who will be replacing him. At the remarkably young age of 24, Beal is beginning to command the respect of a number one option in the National Basketball Association. Win the No. 4 or 5 seed and get a highly winnable first-round playoff series.

Wizards: Host Toronto on Thursday.
