A Colorado Springs deputy was shot and killed while conducting a stolen auto investigation on Monday.

A deputy is dead and two officers have been shot in Colorado Springs, Gray affiliate KKTV reports.

CBS News reported Flick and other officers investigating a stolen vehicle when they approached the subject, a male adult, struggled with him, before gunfire ensued.

Sheriff Bill Elder says the slain deputy is 34-year-old Micah Flick.

The El Paso County sheriff said a procession for the fallen deputy was planned Monday evening. He leaves behind his wife and seven-year-old twins.

In a statement, Gov. John Hickenlooper called the shooting a "senseless act of violence". "State Patrol, sheriff's office and the Colorado Springs Police Department, our hearts are all broken", he said. The suspect was not named, but died at the scene.

The only suspect was killed in the incident.

Hickenlooper also urged Colorado residents to provide sympathy to Flick's family and to pray for the wounded.
