Josh McDaniels may not leave Patriots for Colts after all

The Kansas City Chiefs might have more of a coaching staff shake-up than expected if current rumors prove true that Josh McDaniels, now the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl losing New England Patriots, might back out of the rumored commitment he had to take over the Indianapolis Colts after the season.

That was evident in the past two Super Bowls and this season's AFC Championship Game, when the Patriots were hit with three different moments of adversity.

The report itself comes as no real surprise, save for some last-minute drama on Sunday where PFT hinted that McDaniels might be weighing staying in New England.

In two stints with the Patriots, beginning in 2001, McDaniels helped the team to five Super Bowl victories, forging a strong working relationship with Tom Brady.

The Colts are looking to rebound from an bad 3-13 record, as 2017 was their first losing season in six years. He was sacked during his second year with the Denver Broncos, with whom he posted an 11-17 mark during the 2009-10 seasons.

The 42 is on Instagram! It was built by Bill Belichick: Mike Vrabel of the Titans played under the Patriots coach, McDaniels (Colts) and Bill O'Brien (Texans) were both offensive coordinators for New England and Belichick gave a glowing recommendation for the Jaguars to hire Doug Marrone. Don't forget, Andrew Luck is a quarterback who likes to throw the ball deep down the field.

Instead McDaniels has to worry about playing the Pats: the Colts and Pats are scheduled to play a game (date/time TBD) at Gillette Stadium next season.

Will be updated. The Indianapolis Colts have hired Josh McDaniels as their coach. He spent the 2011 season as an offensive coordinator in St. Louis before returning to the Patriots. King also noted that the Patriots expect McDaniels to leave. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia has already confirmed that he will become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions.
