Oro Valley couple files sexual assault counterclaim against Josh Pastner

The lawsuit was filed by Ron Bell, a former close friend of Pastner.

In response to the counterclaim, Scott Tompsett, Pastner's attorney says "There was no sexual assault".

In a statement Thursday, Pastner's attorney called the counterclaim "false and malicious".

Last month, Pastner filed a defamation lawsuit against Bell and Pendley, saying the Oro Valley couple was trying to defame and blackmail him by accusing him of breaking NCAA rules. He then threatened Pendley into silence, they said, by telling here he had connections who would make her life "a living hell" if she told anyone what he'd done.

According to the counterclaim, Pastner allegedly assaulted Bell's girlfriend in Houston when Bell and his girlfriend traveled there for a University of Memphis basketball game.

Bell stepped forward after Georgia Tech had initially self-reported the violations.

So to sum this up more clearly: Ronald Bell claimed Josh Pastner knew he had provided illegal benefits to Georgia Tech players. Josh never acted improperly with Ms. Pendley. However, he told the NCAA that Pastner wasn't fully truthful to the NCAA. "Their false claims of assault are a last-ditch effort to continue an extortion and blackmail scheme that failed". Bell, he says, has a history of criminal activity and "dishonest and antisocial behavior".

According to the alleged victim, Jennifer Pendley, Paster masturbated in front of her in a hotel room despite her repeated requests for him to stop.

The lawsuit was filed in Pima County on Thursday.

The statement goes on to claim that Pendley actually "continued to proactively and enthusiastically initiate communication and contact with Josh and his wife", even visiting Pastner and his wife's home.

Pendley alleges Pastner sexually harassed her on several occasions.
