Authorities search for woman they say abandoned newborn at Tucson airport

Tuscon Airport Authority believes the woman gave birth around 9pm in an airport bathroom

The newborn baby was then found in the restroom along with a note by an employee of a firm that provides rental cars who informed the airport authorities.

Surveillance video released by the Tuscon Airport Authority shows a woman arriving at the airport, carrying what appears to be a baby wrapped in a blanket.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital and is now in the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.

A custodian from the airport says she discovered pools of blood on the bathroom floor shortly after the woman left. The abandoned infant was found with a torn umbilical cord and medics were rushed to the spot. It begs whoever finds him to turn him over to authorities so they can find the boy a good home.

The note left with the tyke read, "Please help me".

Authorities are looking for a mother who they believe abandoned her newborn baby at Tucson International Airport with a handwritten note pleading, "I just want what is best for him and it is not me".

A spokeswoman for the Tucson Airport Authority, Jessie Butler, told the Arizona Republic that they want to interview the mother and what they learn will determine whether or not she is charged. She says the woman told her the naked baby was three months old.

Ms Quintana also found the bloodied clothes in the bathroom rubbish bin. She can't and unfit to deal with me.

Arizona is a "safe haven" state, therefore a person may surrender a child to authorities without being punished.

The note then switches to what appears to be a plea and apology from the mother.

It's believed she may have been attempting to take advantage of the safe haven law, which allows babies to be abandoned at designated sites across the US.

But since an airport is not a designated location, the woman could face criminal charges. "There is a lot of fear".
