Glasgow Airport delay runway opening time as snow suspends flights

Passengers have been told not to come to Edinburgh Airport tonight, with departures finished for the rest of today as extreme conditions continue to hit the capital. "We expect further delays and some cancellations and we recommend you check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport".

Glasgow Airport has closed following heavy snow in the area.

The message states: "Adverse Weather " For the latest flight information we advise passengers to talk directly to their airlines.

Yesterday many of Scotland's airports cancelled flights and suspended services, though some flights have been arriving into Edinburgh airport today.

At Leeds Bradford airport Flybe and Ryanair have each cancelled eight flights.

Manchester Airport saw early morning departures to Dublin, Glasgow, London Heathrow, and the Isle of Man cancelled.

"We recognise the uncertainty that the bad weather may be causing customers and have therefore introduced a range of flexible rebooking options for customers flying to or from London Heathrow, London Gatwick or London City airports", it said.

Norwich Airport has now reopened following major disruption caused by the snow.

WINTER weather across the north of Europe is hitting flights hard in both the United Kingdom and Spain.

It has also cancelled more than 50 flights from Dublin Airport, although some are still scheduled to fly.

Airport maintenance crews, who have been working flat-out, to keep the runways, taxiways and parking stands clear, closed the main runway just after 7pm last night in the hope of clearing it of snow.
