Craig Mack Flava In Ya Ear rapper dies age 43

Mack's cause of death has been confirmed as heart failure and reportedly he passed away in a hospital near his SC home on Monday.

According to the New York Daily News, Alvin Toney, Mack's friend and longtime producer, was in the process of making an authorized documentary of the enigmatic MC before he passed away.

Toney says Mack revealed he was ill when they saw each other last week, and that Mack was at peace with his condition.

Mack returned to music in 2017 and released an album.

"I knew I wanted to be like LL Cool J and Run DMC", Mack told the New York Times in 1995.

Rapper Erick Sermon tweeted that he was "devastated over the news of Craig Mack". "He was a good friend of mine", Toney said.

Mack rose to prominence with his hit Grammy Award-nominated song "Flava In Ya Ear" in 1994. After "Flava, ' there wasn't a follow-up hit, and Craig Mack's second album flopped". The song's subsequent remix featured notable rappers such as Notorious B.I.G, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and Rampage.
