Curry suffers MCL sprain in first game back from ankle injury

Golden State Warriors guard Patrick McCaw will enter the starting lineup against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

He was noticeably hobbled after a play in which team-mate JaVale McGee fell into him. He rehabs his ankle for the last couple weeks, he gets that strong and then the knee goes.

This was Curry's first game back after missing six straight with an ankle sprain, his fourth ankle related injury this season.

Coach Steve Kerr has stated that Curry has "looked good" in his two practices leading up to Friday's game.

"I think I'm going to stay in Oakland", Kerr said. We'll see what the MRI says. "It seems pretty random", Kerr said.

Golden State as a team has been injury ravaged: Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green each have injuries keeping them out, although Green's isn't considered serious and Durant is expected back relatively soon. "I definitely feel like I'm disappointed for Steph, mostly, tonight". He's not doing anything different from what we've done the last few years. Not with Curry suffering his fifth injury of the season, four of which occurred after a collision or stepping on another players' foot. Cook was averaging 24.3 points and shooting 54.5 percent from behind the 3-point line the past three games. The Warriors have only lost back-to-back games eight times during that span.

Curry began 1 for 6 and missed his first four 3s before connecting 62 seconds into the third.

Curry had targeted Friday's game to make his comeback after aggravating his sprained right ankle against the San Antonio Spurs when he stepped on Dejounte Murray's ankle while attempting a fast-break lay-up.

Without Curry, they are 13-8 while scoring 105.1 points per game.
