33 degrees doesn't matter if it snows hard

A storm system coming in from Wyoming will bring some more rain and snow to the Denver metro area for the Wednesday evening commute.

The higher terrain will see snow showers with the lower elevations seeing a mix of rain and snow. Travel may be affected.

Strong winds will whip up deep snow drifts with several inches of the white stuff now expected to blanket swathes of the country.

"At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain and it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive".

The Met Office warns there is a risk of road and rail delays, while communities could become cut off.

Of the weather on the way for Brits, the Met Office's Alex Deakin said this morning: "It is a cold start to the day".

Across the weekened, temperatures in parts of the south could just about reach double figures while some parts of Scotland will struggle to get above 5C. The wind-chill factor also expected to make things feel bitterly cold.

Across the United Kingdom there is a mixed bag of conditions, often with cold and windy showers and long spells of rain at times.

A few clear spells at first, but a band of more general showery rain and some hill snow will spread slowly north through the region overnight. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Sunday will be a day of sunshine and showers, before further rain is likely to move in from the south on Monday morning, which could bring further snow to northern hills as it heads north during the day.
