Girls track and field: Alex takes second in opening meet

Bullard Lady Panther varsity track runner Emily Berry took home first place in the Varsity Girls’ 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:56.81 as well as first place in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 13:19.34

The Mountain View High School boys' track team has four of the 16 3A track athletes who are prequalified for the state tournament in Casper in May. Eric Herrmann '19 won the 1500 meters.

Hezekiah Carrington finishing third in the 100-meters with a time of 11:88.

The Eagles took control of the meet from beginning to end as they secured a first-place finish in the men's and women's teams. Tafella's winning vault of 7 feet was one-and-a-half feet higher than the three second-place finishers, Cassidy Kirk of Pike County, Faith Branham of Lamar County and Jerilynn Gradic of Pike County, who each vaulted 5 feet, 6 inches. 2017 graduate Antonique Butler qualified in the triple jump.

Lemons previously set school records in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and 4x400 relay.

On the boys side, Chris Tose (B) won the 1600, the 800 and the 300 hurdles; Delnison Padilla (G) won the 110 hurdles; Sheldon (G) won the 400; Powers (G) won the 100; and Robles (G) won the 200.

Sophomore Hayden Pauls finished seventh in the shot put, with a throw of 45-06.50.

The girls 4x100-meter relay team of Schwerdtfeger, Davies, Crow and Cooper finished sixth, with a time of 54 seconds. McCaskey's Alex Miller ran the 1,600-meter run at Warwick in 4:51.2 while Warwick's Nate Good cleared 5 feet, 10 inches, in the high jump.

It was the Eastern Lady Warriors taking firs place of eight teams in this year's Hawkins Invite, compiling a team score of 160, well ahead of the runner up team from Goshen that finished with a team score of 99.

Eastern's Emily Fannin won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:45.96.

The meet at Ephrata also featured a showdown between two of the L-L League's top returning girls. McCoy won the 800 race in 2:08.8 and junior Ty Breeden ran fourth in 2:27.81.

Elizabethtown's Carley Sedun helped the Bears pick up a 117-31 win at home over Lebanon Monday with wins in the shot put (29-4) and discus (87-11).

Georgetown's Danielle Williamson placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:14.90.

Georgetown's 4×400 meter relay team (Galley, Tomlin, Strickland, and Ellis) placed third with a time of 3:53. Priestly, Rodriguez, Cockrum and Dietz took first place in the 4x200 M Relay (1:50.93) and Pena, Cockrum, Dietz and Rodriguez ended in second place in the 4x400 Relay (4:21.09).
