Amazon adds music, podcasts and radio to Alexa Routines

Mortgage Brain launches first mortgage app on Amazon Echo

The newest feature is now available across all Echo devices in the United States and Canada.

If you have a multi-room set of Amazon Echo hardware, let us know in the comments if you can get this new feature working! For example, you can say "Alexa, broadcast." and it will start streaming your voice across all speakers in your house.

"Alexa Announcements make Echo devices in your home even more valuable by reaching the whole family at once".

Aside from the usual audio tricks - answering questions, playing music requests, and so on - Alexa on Fire tablets will also visual content with some of its responses.

With Amazon's track record of encouraging companies to come onboard the Alexa bandwagon, this will likely lead to more smart lamps being released that can do a lot more than just turn on and off. Third-party Alexa devices aren't included. That is, you can speak into one Echo device and have the message broadcast to all the other ones on the same network. So, as with the Echo Show and Echo Spot, you can have it pull up a feed from one of your smart home security cameras. The retailer's latest announcement may help drive home that fact. To use the feature, you just say, "Hey Google, broadcast 'It's time for dinner!'" and your message will be sent through - but in the Assistant's voice, not your own. In addition to the coverage expansion, Amazon Key is also expanding its roster of supported smart locks, adding five new ones from Kwikset and Yale for a total of eight.
