Cohen Raid Could Be Breaking Point for Trump

Viktor Pinchuk made the hefty donation to President Trump's namesake foundation in September 2015

Hannity's guest, Fox News contributor Sara Carter, stated that one of the bigger questions with this latest news is that there's a "sense of mission creep by the special counsel".

"I have this witch hunt constantly going on", Trump said during a military leadership meeting, according to a press pool report. "It's an attack on what we all stand for". These people have the biggest conflicts of interest I have ever seen.

Trump vented from the Oval Office that Mueller's investigators were "going too far" and conducting "their witch hunt" to undermine his presidency, according to three people familiar with the president's views but not allowed to discuss them publicly.

Trump's frequent attacks on the special counsel periodically sparked concern from Democrats that he will seek to fire Mueller before he can conclude his investigation. We'll see what happens, but I think it's really a sad situation when you look at what happened. Many people have said you should fire him. She added that this raid could be a way for Mueller to "garner attention" and "find whatever they need to find on the president or anyone else associated with the president". Firing Mueller is actually Trump putting the country first. One Mueller witness, former Trump aide Sam Nunberg, recently connected the special counsel with the payment, saying in an interview last month that prosecutors had asked him about payments to women.

Earlier this year, Mueller subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents relating to the donation, made by Ukranian steel magnate Victor Pinchuk.

By the end of the day Monday, Cohen faced an ominous future after the FBI raided his office, home and hotel room in NY as part of an investigation into possible financial crimes.

On Monday, investigators working for the USA attorney's office at the Southern District of NY raided Cohen's offices in NY after obtaining a search warrant, and seized records on various topics, such as the $130,000 nondisclosure payment Cohen made the adult-film actress, Stormy Daniels, shortly before the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The Washington Post reported that Cohen is being investigated for possible bank fraud and campaign finance violations.

Mueller reportedly informed deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein of information he had uncovered regarding Cohen, and Rosenstein then decided that the matter should be handled by the US Attorney's office at the Southern District of New York, Bloomberg reported. Trump has said he didn't know about the payment, which was made weeks before the 2016 election. Ryan called the raids "completely inappropriate and unnecessary" and said they led to the "unnecessary seizure" of documents protected by attorney-client privilege.
