Three Iranians were killed in air strike on Syrian air base

Iran limits foreign currency holdings outside banks

Russian Federation delivered a distinctive envoy, " Aleksandr Lavrentiev, to Tehran on Tuesday to explore the strike and "threats of army hindrance from Syria by the USA", Iran's state information agency, IRNA, reported.

An early-morning strike on a Syrian government air base in the country's centre killed 14 fighters, including Iranian forces allied to the regime, a monitoring group said on Monday.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hit back at US President Donald Trump, who has said Russian Federation and Iran share the blame for an alleged chemical attack in a rebel-held town in Syria.

The United States, Russia, Syria, and Iran have all said that a pre-dawn air raid targeting the Iran-operated Tayfur (or "T4") airbase in Syria's central Homs province on Monday was carried out by Israel.

The bodies of the Iranians, described as military advisers, had been flown back to Iran and funerals would take place later on Tuesday, Tasnim said.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi condemned the attack, calling it "an obvious breach of worldwide laws that would make the Syrian crisis and regional equations more complicated".

The attack demonstrated the multi-faceted nature of the Syria conflict, which started in March 2011 as an uprising against Assad and now involves several countries and various insurgent groups in a web of alliances.

In Damascus, Ali Akbar Velayati, the diplomatic advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued an open threat to Israel on Tuesday after the Iranian government said it had lost seven personnel in the strike.

Israel has yet to deny or confirm responsibility for the attack.

"It seems the USA government is looking for an excuse for military intervention", Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said has he arrived in Brazil early on Tuesday, according to state media. That incursion sparked a series of aerial clashes that resulted in the Iranian aircraft being shot down, an Israeli F-16I getting hit by Syrian anti-aircraft fire and crashing in a field, and a significant percentage of Syria's air defenses being destroyed in retaliation.
