Soon you will be able to download your Instagram data

Instagram data download tool Facebook Download Your Information Tool Instagram data porting tool CEO Mark Zuckerberg Instagram active users

During the previous weeks, Facebook has allowed its users to download their photos, messages, clicked advertisements and a log of all their activity on the social networking platform since at least 2010. With the impending arrival of GDPR in Europe and the requirement for data portability, Facebook-owned Instagram is planning to make it possible for users to download all of their data.

After you take the photo, you can do the usual creative stuff like add filters, stickers, text or whatever it is that you usually do in your Instagram Stories.

However, that shows Instagram has locked all the information uploaded to it like Facebook.

According to the spokesperson, "We are building a new data portability tool". This new data exporting feature can bring up a real opportunity for more image sharing platforms to thrive and compete with Instagram. And as long as it launches before May 25th, it will help Instagram to comply with upcoming European GDPR privacy law that requires data portability.

This might be hard to believe, but you're about to take even more selfies than you already do. Moving away from the new camera mode, Stories' users will now also have access to a new user mention sticker. It is not known whether Instagram will allow downloading of data like likes, comments and captions which are shared with the posts.

In the meantime, Instagram has been keeping its nose clean amidst the Facebook data scandal.

Here's how to get Instagram's new "Focus" Feature. You can do this by either swiping inward from the left side of Instagram or by tapping on your avatar in the Stories section.

Of course, Instagram being a Facebook-owned company and all, it's nice to know that they're advanced software can detect yours and your friends faces via their app.
